I'm Third

Verse of the day: John 15:12 (ESV)
"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."

Hey Friends!

I'm sure many of you are wondering what the title of this post means.
It simply means "I'm Third."
God first.
 Others second.
And putting yourself third.

Can you do that? Are you willing to take that challenge? In a world where people always put themselves first, never self sacrificing, trying to get the best of the best would you make yourself more Christ-like and put others before you?

That is my challenge to you, and to myself. Here's an "I'm Third" story.

After spending five summers at Kanakuk, brother and sister twins departed for college for their freshman year. They carried along with them their Christian character and the many spiritual treasures they received at Kamp. Even before unpacking their bags, each of them placed their I’m Third card on their bulletin board in their dorm room and sought to be true to that motto in every decision they made.

Often, friends would drop by their room and ask them about the I’m Third card on their wall. Each would respond the same way. “I’ll tell you the ‘why’ of the I’m Third the week I graduate from college.”

Throughout college they kept their morals pure and always sought to keep God first, others second and themselves third.

At the end of their senior year, their friends poured into each of their rooms to hear the story of the I’m Third card. They both gave their many friends a similar answer, saying, “at Kamp I received this card that reminded me to always keep God first by loving Him with all my heart. Likewise it reminds me to try to put my friends needs above my own and this card simply means, ‘I’m third’.”

A reverent hush now fell upon their friends as each understood why he had been elected President of the student body and she the Captain of her track and cross country team. In the four years that had passed, no one was ever turned away who came to these two in need of prayer or just a shoulder to lean on. To be with this brother or sister was to be with a follower of Christ and many had come to know Him because these two were faithful to keep God first, others second, and “I’m third.”

I am so excited to be attending my fourth year at Kamp this summer, I have a countdown on my phone, and lately it seems every little thing is reminding me of my wonderful days spent at Kanakuk. The atmosphere at Kamp is so refreshing, everyone there is building you up, helping you grow stronger with your relationship with God. The staffers guide you spritually and challenge you in your chosen sport. (Mine is usually Tennis)

So close! I can almost hear the laughter, smell the air (and the wonderful food) I can't wait to see the sun set over beautiful Table Rock Lake.

Remember the cross!

Sweet Home Alabama...

Verse of the day: Romans 8:37-39
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Breanna doing two posts in a row? What is this world coming to? Pure craziness! I hope ya'll had a wonderful Easter! I know I did! I spent it with my family visiting my sister, and we had so much fun being together again! Sadly we leave today. I'm LOVING the warm weather and don't want to head back to the coooold midwest where I'll have to pack away my summer clothing until August considering last Tuesday we received 10 inches of snow! ICK!

So I'm watching a rather frightening episode of Law & Order CI, while blogging, looking up photos for this post while talking to my friend on the phone (Hey Liliana!) So I've handed the cupcake/tutorial post over to the other ninny muggins (Breanna) and when I get home I'll hopefully get to cleaning my room, then I can write up the spring cleaning post I promised! I'm trying to figure out a simple tutorial for ya'll. Anything specific??? I  have a surprise for you too! The only hint I'm giving now is that it's rather "WhiMSical!" and you'll "Love" it!

Random fact of the day? Last Wednesday when I was at the airport I was moonwalking on the moving walkways. I should document this...

What I'm looking forward to this week? Tons of stuff, #1) Youth Group! We're painting the youth area and it's going to be ahhmazing! #2) Shopping this weekend! I'm thining about getting some really cute pink Hunter rain boots. and last but NOT least! #3) THE ROYAL WEDDING!!!!!!!!! Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. I am so excited you have no idea! I'm planning on getting up at 3, and making my dad tape it for me on two other networks so I can catch all the details.

I also have an idea for a tutorial now! All I'm going to say is that it will be "Incredible" ;)

He Is Risen...

... He is risen indeed! Happy Easter everybody, and remember:

But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

What do you think of when you see that word? Fun with friends? A high school sweetheart? Ugly dresses? Becoming prom royalty? Awkward slow dances?

Was it really as memorable as everybody said it would be?

This year I was invited by a bunch of my friends. We'll be going to the grand march, then out for dinner at a ridiculously expensive restaurant, then back to our school for the dance. Yes, back to the school. My school is small and doesn't put much of their funds towards silly things like dances. The entire thing (except for dinner) will take place in the elementary school's gym, because it is the only room with a stage that is large enough to hold a dance in our town. Oh, and the theme is Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Romantic, eh? In the words of Rebecca Black, this should be "Fun. Fun. Fun. Fun."
Since I'm a sophomore and I have two years of this left, I would really like to get by as cheaply as I possibly can.

A huge thank you to two of my friends (Rachel, and none other than our very own Maddie) and their sisters who were willing to offer me six dresses in beautiful condition to choose from! I loved all of them, and have my junior and senior dresses planned out, but like I said, I'm only a sophomore and I think it would be more appropriate to dress a little less formally this year. I bought my dress at a lovely little consignment store called Vintage Vogue. It's 50s style, strapless, and iridescent minty green. The skirt is ballet length and there is a bow sewn to the upper bodice. (I'll post a picture after prom since the only time we seem to take pictures in my house is for special occasions.) With only a few minor adjustments it'll be ready to wear to prom, and the best part is that it was only $30! I also bought a $20 crinoline to wear under the skirt to make it fuller.

Dress~ $50
Shoes~ $0 I have a pair that match my dress in my closet. hehehe

Makeup will be done by the fine ladies of the Clinique counter at the mall. There's also a cosmetology school nearby and they only charge $21 to do your hair for special occasions, so that's what we'll be doing. What's the difference, right?

Hair~ $21
Makeup~ $0

Since I'm going with a group of friends, we're all pairing up so the tickets are less. If we went separately they would be $15, but the tickets go down $5 for couples. This way, the two of us only have to pay $5 a piece. Whoa!

Ticket~ $5

And finally dinner at a former country club called Signatures. I heard that you can easily spend $50 on the less expensive things on the menu, so I'll probably be eating an energy bar beforehand.

Dinner~ $???
Clif bar~ $1.25

Prices shouldn't get in the way of a fun night with your friends! You can look just as dolled up for just a fraction of the price.
Well, I suppose this can be the second edition of Breanna's Fairytale Land of Storytime and Discussion. Storytime's over, now discuss my lovelies, discuss! Tell me your most memorable... um... memory of prom. I'll be excited to hear if prom is really what it's cracked up to be, because to tell you the truth, I'm a little skeptical. And I really hope it's not like the movies.

What the??

Confessions of a CAbi Consultants Right Hand Gal

This is an old post that has been in my phone, forgotten, waiting to be posted. Haha!

(Chilling behind the curtain while my mom does the show)
As some of our readers may know my mother is an Independant CAbi consultant and I am her assistant. I think I have one of the best jobs ever (one of the best companies to work for) AND I work with my mom who is my best friend everyday! The job entails (sometimes) early mornings and (often) late nights but I am blessed to be able to meet wonderful women from all walks of life at every party! Today I'm at a party at a beautiful house with an even prettier view! So much fun!
FL update post soon :)
